When Kayla was 23 years old, she received a 20 year sentence for drug possession and distribution of pseudoephedrine. It was her first run in with the law. Kayla is one of several hundred people who have had their sentence commuted by Governor Stitt and former Gov. Mary Fallin in recent years, and joyfully reunited with her children in 2018. She now advocates for criminal justice reform so she can help others serving excessive sentences for nonviolent offenses.
